Educational Therapy
One-on-one and subject-based tutoring
Educational therapy is a specialized educational support process. Educational therapists focus not only on addressing current challenges but also on developing self-awareness and underlying learning skills to help students grow into more self-reliant, efficient learners. Our educational therapists are professional educators who provide one-on-one intensive intervention using a wide range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
Our educational therapists work with students with many learning disabilities (LDs) including but not limited to:
-
Nonverbal learning disorders
-
Reading and writing difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia)
-
Math disabilities (dyscalculia)
-
Attention deficit disorder (ADHD)
-
Language-processing problems
-
Visual-processing problems
-
Poor motivation
-
Low academic self-esteem
-
Poor organizational and study skills
-
School and test anxiety
McKinna educational therapists coordinate with other professionals, teachers, and the student's family to develop a team approach to support a student's learning. They collaboratively set goals and develop an intervention plan that addresses not only academic difficulties but also psychoeducational and socioemotional aspects of lifelong learning.
